When everyone else is booking cheap, cookie-cutter tours, these are the trips you really want to take.

Why Focused Escapes?

Convenient

“Insider” tours you don’t have to research yourself.  Free from tourist traps.

Friendly

We have a Kindness Policy that keeps our community of travelers special and our trips more fun.

Good value

While not “cheap,” these tours are definitely a good value.  We capitalize on group rates to keep costs down and then pass those savings along to you.

First-rate sleeps

We stay comfortable in the middle range of accommodations and aim for local boutique hotels of a “Marriott standard” or higher.  We avoid chain hotels and often take advantage of sales on luxury properties that occasionally enable us to stay in 5-star digs without the hefty price.

Personal space

I don’t charge extra for single travelers nor force travelers to share rooms with strangers.  Having your own space is important – especially after a pandemic.

Stress-free

With our eyes on the “experience,” you have a much more flexible schedule that includes things other tourists don’t get to see without jam-packed activities that leave you needing a vacation from your vacation.

Each Focused Escape has a special theme or “focus”. Sometimes it’s photography. Other times it’s a special event or time of year.

Who comes on Focused Escapes?

The average participant on these tours is 63 years old, female, traveling alone.  But I also get travelers my own age (mid-40s), and couples.

I often hire photographers as guides because they pick the most stunning places to see.  Then, I use my vast network of bloggers, artists, photographers and videographers to get us into shops, hotels, eateries and events that most tourists don’t know about.

Lots of travelers pick a destination and then they start by looking for flights and hotels.  But I’d like you to consider doing it a differently…

Each of the places I choose to create a tour has changed me in some way.  Each trip is an experience more than a tour.  So rather than choose a trip by its destination, consider choosing one by the time of year you’d like to travel and put a little trust in the location I picked out for you.

Maybe you’ve never wanted to go to Morocco, for example.  But when you see the way I’ve designed this tour, it can change your mind as Morocco, done right, is a favorite destination for those who have been. And many like to return again and again.
